I seem to find the lamest ways to spend my off-days. Today it was shredding papers for my parents (at one point I had shredded so many that the machine overheated, so I ran out and grabbed beef lo mein from my favorite Chinese restaurant and by the time I'd gotten it the shredder had finally cooled off).

Well, I had an interesting adventure in the heat today. I drove around to various places that do embroidery to inquire as to whether they could stitch over the drawn letters on my Nishiura jersey (I'm upgrading my Mihashi cosplay gear) and sew the 'UN' on my new hat, which actually fits over the wig this time. Today was an off-day, so I took one. I spent most of it cooking (with this kid; we made fried rice for lunch) and watching the Women's College World Series (with this kid, whom I can discuss any form of baseball with at any time).

Today's an off-day, so there's not much to report on the big club front. The Minor League affiliates will be playing today, though, and Mike Timlin is scheduled to be the starter in Pawtucket - so it's worth keeping up with. It was a quiet, uneventful off-day today. We did, however, get the news that Coco, Kielty and Schill are all going to Japan. No word yet on Lugo yet, though. I guess we'll see how that worked out when we get the final Japan roster tomorrow.

Yes, I know we lost again last night, but we can't let that get us down or anything. As a fan of Voltaire's novella Candide, I know how dangerous optimism is. However, pessimism is just as risky. I am slowly surviving these days without baseball...with baseball. At the start of the day, I had six episodes of Princess Nine left to watch, so I divided them evenly between today and tomorrow and watched 21 through 23 today.
